As you and I have been chasing our “500 pound lions” (big dreams!), one of the biggest obstacles my readers have said gets in their way or holds them back is FEAR.
Fear of failure. Fear of success. Fear of what others will think of them. Fear of the risks. Fear of the money, time, and/or energy it will take. Fear of having the spotlight on them. Fear of not being heard. Fear of not being good enough, smart enough, skilled enough.
And it’s not only dream-related fears that hold us back in life. There are fears that can cripple us from living our lives to the fullest or being the kind of person we want to be.
So this October I want to challenge us (you and me!) to start a journey of overcoming fear.
My challenge is this:
- Make a list of your fears both big and small.
- Now choose at least one and plan out how you will go about facing that fear this month. Perhaps you want to take several small steps throughout this month to work your way up to facing your one big fear at the end. Or perhaps you want to face one fear a week. It’s up to you!
- Share about your experience on social media either in the form of a written post, picture, video, visual representation, or however you wish to present it and use the hashtag #FearChallenge17 so we can inspire each other towards courageous living!
I will be doing this challenge right alongside of you. I’m planning on facing some pretty big fears this month (i.e. things that fill me with such anxiety and are a serious issue in holding me back from living the life I want) as well as smaller things that others may think are silly (i.e. facing fear of disgust by trying a food that kind of freaks me out, etc.). You can watch me go through this challenge on Facebook or search for the hashtag #FearChallenge17.
Are you ready to break free from the chains of the fears that weigh you down and hold you back from being the person you want to be? Then join me in this challenge, my friend!
Now I will leave you with a few quotes to encourage you in this challenge:
If you’d like some extra accountability, feel free to comment below to either say “I’m in!” or tell us what specific fears you’d like to face this month.

What an awesome challenge! Just having the accountability of someone else knowing is huge!
