Ok, who here set a New Year Resolution and already forgot about it or quit it? If this is you, you're not alone. I've been there many times before, too. Not just with New Year resolutions (which I talk about more in this post from last New Year), but in other daily life goals as well. Whatever kind of goal it is that you hope to reach, I want to share some tips with you that have helped me. This post originally appeared on Anna's 1st blog, Annamotion. 1. Know the REAL reason why you have this goal. The most crucial thing to help you … [Read more...]
My 2017 Focus
This post originally appeared on Anna's 1st blog, Annamotion. A Review of My 2016 Focus Last year I started a tradition on this blog of helping us to focus our new year with a 1 word or phrase focus (read this post about it). My 2016 focus was inspired by a quote from Cinderella: "Have courage and be kind." As a reminder, I had the quote inscribed on a Miero bracelet. Read this post to find out why I chose this phrase for my 2016 focus. This phrase helped me through many tough circumstances. As conflict swirled around me, I was … [Read more...]
23 Things I Learned by 23
December 13th, 2016 is my 23rd birthday! For me it's a birthday of many firsts--it's my 1st married birthday, my 1st birthday as a college graduate (also my 1st birthday in about 8 years where I haven't been studying for or taking a final), and it's my 1st birthday in my own apartment! I'm very excited to celebrate my birthday with my husband. Last year I shared 22 Things I Learned by 22, Why I'm Not Feelin' 22, and an embarrassing video of me testing out the Acapella App with Taylor's Swift's Feelin' 22. I thought it would be fun to make a … [Read more...]
Laura’s E.P.I.C. Story
This post originally appeared on Anna's 1st blog, Annamotion. Introduction Today's E.P.I.C. Story is an interview with Laura Pennington. Starting off with one $150 paid writing gig, she grew her business to a six figure freelance business and was featured in places such as Business Insider and Huffington post. Now she helps others to jumpstart their own freelance or virtual assistant business through SixFigure Writing Secrets. Tell us a little about yourself. Who are you? What should we know about you? "I'm a former educator and current PhD … [Read more...]
The Pump Up Playlist for Christmas Junkies
This post originally appeared on Anna's 1st blog, Annamotion. Merry almost-Christmas! Even with the holiday season, it's important to continue (or start!) your workout routine. Your future self will thank you! And you'll feel great! For those Christmas junkies who are so ready to listen to Christmas music but don't want to get stuck with Silent Night or … [Read more...]
A Year in the Life Lesson
Friday November 25th was quite an exciting day in the Reel house! We've been planning this special day since the moment I got my husband hooked on Gilmore Girls! And we planned to do it right! -- we bought Luke's Diner and Dragonfly Inn mugs, we tried to dress the part of Luke & Lorelai, we ate like the Gilmore Girls (though unfortunately the closest gluten-free Chinese place happened to be closed because of the holiday weekend! *tear*), and we made a day of it! Though I am still processing, I can say that I enjoyed this 4-part revival! … [Read more...]
Thankstaking
This post originally appeared on Anna's 1st blog, Annamotion. Ah Thanksgiving. That time of year Americans say is for giving thanks, while instead they are focusing on what they are taking (intaking excess amounts of food; taking way more than they need on Black Friday; taking their blessings for granted). Does anyone else see how hypocritical it is to say "let's be thankful for what we have" and within the same 24 hour period fight others over what we don't have? I know this is not everyone. I hope and pray that it's not even the … [Read more...]
4 Life Lessons from Doctor Strange
I highly recommend this movie if you haven't seen it yet. The writing, the acting, the action -- an overall very well done movie. Possibly even my favorite movie of this year! For writing this blog post, I didn't have to try very hard to come up with life lessons we can learn from this movie; they were so beautifully evident. Warning: This post contains spoilers. I suggest you watch the movie first. This post originally appeared on Anna's 1st blog, Annamotion. 1. When you attach your life's purpose to your work, you can easily lose your … [Read more...]
5 Tips for Less Holiday Drama
Oh the holiday season! It's the most wonderful time of the year, right? Perhaps the mention of the holidays instantly brought that subtle but oh-so-deep twinge of dread in the pit of your gut as you thought of holidays past. That one family member. That one conflict that arises EVERY SINGLE YEAR. That one dreaded question you know you'll be asked. That image you just got in your head -- does it have to be that way? Now I'm not going to claim to be some kind of holiday drama expert. Actually, in all honesty I have very little personal … [Read more...]
My 2016 Summer Reading List
September 21st marked the last official day of summer. I'd say my summer reading was a success! I met my 1st goal of 10 books by September 1st and came close to reaching my bonus goal of 12 books by September 21st (I made it halfway through both of the last 2 books). I'd say that's very good considering how busy my summer has been, mainly with wedding planning. I also highly enjoyed and benefited from every book on my list, minus just 1 (which I will tell you in my list). So if you're looking for some more good reads this season, let me tell … [Read more...]
