Ongoing Guest Post Opportunities
E.P.I.C. Stories (ongoing)
I want to hear YOUR story of growth! I have a series called E.P.I.C. Stories that used to just be for interviewing people whose story I thought would encourage others, but I want to open it up as a guest posting opportunity as well so more people can share their story (note: this will be regular guest post style, not an interview).
Don’t let the name of the series intimidate you; E.P.I.C. stands for “Everyday People Inspiring Change.” You don’t have to have some crazy, incredible story to guest post. Just share from your heart about a season of growth, when you learned something new that challenged you or changed your mindset, a tough time that taught you something valuable, or a fear you faced, etc. The purpose is to share your story so others can be encouraged and inspired in their own journeys of growth and learn a lesson with you.
Just make sure to read the requirements down below and get a feel for my target audience.
Lessons from Film series (ongoing)
I love talking about life and personal growth lessons we can learn from geeky movies and tv shows! It gives us common ground to start a discussion, and there is something so powerful about story—seeing the lessons in action. There are so many good movies and tv shows coming out this year! So I’d love your help!
Is there a greatly anticipated movie or tv show coming out this year that you’d like to write about?
Here’s what would be expected:
- For movies: You would need to see the movie asap and have the post in to me 1-2 weeks from the release date (I don’t want this to kill you lol or hurt the quality of the post, so if you end up needing an extension, I might be able to give you an extra week, but please try to get it to me as soon as you can because the closer to opening night the better for this type of post)
- For tv shows: I would like a post by 1-2 weeks after the show ends (or in cases of a Netflix show that shares all the episodes at once, depending on the length of the series (I can allow for more time for longer series; we can discuss it), then approximately 1-2 weeks after it’s released)
- Feel free to cover multiple lessons or focus on just one or a few main themes. Don’t worry about spoilers because I will put a spoiler warning at the beginning of the post.
- If you’d like to see examples of past posts in this series click here.
- Make sure to read the rest of this page to make sure we’re a good fit and so you know the rest of the requirements and what the next steps are for pitching me.
- Note: I might say no to your pitch if I don’t think it’s a movie that enough of my readers would be interested in (I want to make sure your post gets the attention it deserves! 😊) or if it’s a movie I’d like to cover myself 😉
- Another note: there’s a small chance I may turn your post into a YouTube video. By writing this post for me you give me permission to do so. IF I do, then I will give you credit in the video and link to your website & social media in the description. I will not be reading it word for word, but rather summarizing in my own words and possibly adding in additional lessons I learned.
- If you’d like to write about a geeky movie or tv show that is NOT brand new, then check out A Geek’s Guide to Life series below.
A Geek’s Guide to Life (ongoing)
I have a series called A Geek’s Guide to Life where I use fandoms, stories, and geeky pop culture as analogies for teaching lessons about personal growth. I’d love to have some contributors to this series, especially for covering fandoms I’m not as familiar with. Want to learn more about the series first? Click here. Check out the guidelines down below for pitching your ideas. If accepted, I’ll make edits to the wizard chibi in the image to reflect you!
Are we a good fit?

Main Topics Covered:
Personal Growth, Personality, Goals
Authenticity, Courage, Mental Health, Productivity, Relationships
(note: you can go to the home page & scroll down to find category links if you wish to explore how they’ve been previously covered)
Requirements
- Word count minimum for guest posts: 700 words
For reference, MY posts are all over 1,000 words and average around 1,400 words. I value quality over quantity, so don’t stress about the word count. All I care about is that you gave it your best and said everything you needed to say for it to feel “complete” and “finished” to you.
- As your editor and the owner of this website, I may kindly ask you to change any parts of your post before publishing it
- Things to avoid in your post: excessive profanity (please keep to a minimum or avoid completely), sexual topics or references (unless approved), bashing other people, uncalled for negativity (we get REAL here about difficult issues, but I want people leaving here feeling uplifted and empowered), feel free to link to relevant posts of your own but please avoid promoting TOO much in the post (that’s what the author bio is there for–that’s where you can promote yourself all you want! 🙂)
- Things to do for your post: make sure you’re using key words (i.e. your topic should be very clear in the first paragraph), please EDIT it (I will proofread and edit your post, but I shouldn’t have to do an excessive amount of editing; please show you actually care about this by putting in the effort)
- You may NOT reuse the post for any other site without asking permission first. (Google hates seeing word-for-word repeated content and it will hurt the success of BOTH posts)
- Don’t worry about images for the post; I’ll take care of that 🙂
What now?
If I’ve already accepted you to guest post and you already know the series and/or topic:
Email me at anna@thereelanna.com with
- subject line: “Guest Post”
- the full text of your post in the email (or an attached Word .doc)
- your bio for your author box
- picture for your bio
- any links you’d like to include (i.e. blog, Facebook, etc.)
If you’re cold-pitching me:
Email me at anna@thereelanna.com with
- subject line: “Guest Post”
- link to your main website
- 3 samples of your previous work
- pitch me your blog post idea. If you’re choosing a topic for one of the posts I’m looking for (see top of this page), then follow those instructions when pitching. If you’re not pitching for any of those series, then pitch me 3 topic ideas you’d like to write about on my blog.
Note: I may be interested in having you guest post, but it might not fit into what I currently have planned for the particular series I have coming up, so I’ll either put you on a list of contacts for future standalone posts or talk to you about covering a different topic.
